Review guidelines

JobRipe reviews come only from verified employees and never show who wrote them. These guidelines keep them useful, fair and safe — for readers, reviewers and employers alike.

1. What belongs in a review

  • Your own, first-hand experience of working at the company in the last few years: culture, management, pay, growth, workload, security.
  • Opinions, honestly given — positive or negative. A bad review that is true and fair stays up.
  • Facts you can stand behind. Describe what happened rather than labelling it (“deadlines were moved weekly” tells readers more than “chaos”).
  • Constructive advice to management.

2. What we hold or remove

  • Names or descriptions of individual people (“my manager Rahul”), unless they are a public figure such as the CEO named in public reporting. Talk about roles, not people.
  • Personal contact details: emails, phone numbers, addresses. These are hidden automatically and the review is held for a moderator.
  • Hate, slurs, threats, harassment, sexual content or abuse.
  • Confidential business information: unreleased products, client names under NDA, internal financials, source code, passwords.
  • Accusations of crimes stated as fact. Report suspected wrongdoing to the authorities; a review isn't the place to prove it.
  • Reviews not written by a real current or former employee, written for payment or reward, or written by the employer about itself or a competitor.
  • Links, adverts and anything copied from elsewhere.

Reviews with links, contact details, flagged words or names are held for a moderator before they go live. Moderators can publish them, ask the author to edit, or decline them with a note.

3. Verification: only real employees

To publish a review, salary or benefits answer, you confirm a work email at the company with a one-time code. We keep only a one-way fingerprint of that address, never the address itself, and it is never shown or linked to your review in public.

Reviews from people who haven't verified are kept privately and never published. Each person can review a company once every 12 months, and can edit or delete their review at any time.

People who manage the company's page on JobRipe can reply to reviews, but cannot write them.

4. How we protect your anonymity

  • Your name, email and account are never shown, and never shared with the employer.
  • Your exact job title is shown only when at least 5 reviewers at the company share it; otherwise readers see the role family (“Software Engineering”). Your city is shown only when at least 5 reviewers share it; otherwise only the country.
  • Reviews go live on a random day within 1–7 days, so the moment you wrote it can't point to you.
  • Salaries are never shown one by one — only a median and range once at least 5 verified reports from 3 different people exist for a role. Benefits show only the share of verified employees saying yes, once 5 have answered.
  • Deleting your JobRipe account deletes your reviews, salaries and benefits answers.

5. No paid removal

Employers cannot pay to remove, hide, reorder or edit reviews, and no plan or partnership changes that. A review is removed only when it breaks these guidelines or the law, whoever reports it. Paid employer plans don't affect ratings.

6. How employers respond

Verified members of a company's page (a confirmed work email or an approved claim) can post one public reply per review and edit it later. Replies follow the same rules: no names, no details that could identify the reviewer, no threats.

Employers can report a review they believe breaks these guidelines, like anyone else. Three separate reports send a review back to a moderator; reporting never removes a review by itself.

7. Asking for content to be taken down

If a review contains your personal information, a false statement of fact about you, harassment, or confidential information, use the takedown request form. Requests go to support@jobripe.com and our grievance process.

In line with India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, we acknowledge every request within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days. We tell you what we decided and why. Requests to remove content because it is negative but true are declined.

Anyone signed in can also use “Report” on a review for a quicker look by a moderator.

Every month we publish how many reviews, questions and answers were submitted, held, published and removed, and how quickly takedown requests were handled, in our transparency report.
