Questions
How is the score worked out?
Eleven checks, each worth a set number of points: pay shown (15), inclusive language (12), title (10), length (10), location and work setup (8), number of must-haves (8), readability (8), no discriminatory requirements (8), must-haves separated from nice-to-haves (7), benefits (7), and how to apply (7). A pass earns the full points, 'could be better' earns half, and a fail earns none.
Why does pay matter so much?
People want to know what a job pays before they spend time applying, and several places, including some US states and the EU under its pay transparency rules, legally require a pay range in job ads.
What counts as non-inclusive language?
Words that signal who you want by age, gender or background rather than skill: 'young', 'digital native', 'he', 'manpower', 'native English speaker', and jargon like 'rockstar' or 'ninja'. We suggest a plain replacement for each.
Why is my grade capped at D?
If the ad asks for an age limit, marital status, a photo, a gender, or similar, the grade can't go above D until those are removed. They can be unlawful in many countries, including India, the UK, the US and the EU.
Do you store my job ad?
No. The ad is checked and the result is shown to you; we don't save the text.
Where do the candidate and pay numbers come from?
From JobRipe itself: candidate profiles that job seekers have chosen to show to recruiters, and live jobs on JobRipe. We only show a median pay when at least 5 similar jobs show pay.
