Software Developer - Android

Android development plays a central role in how operators interact with vehicles and machines here at CPAC Systems. Depending on the team and project, you will work with HMIs and Android applications within one of our areas – from solutions used onboard boats in our marine segment to applications for construction equipment and other industrial systems.

You will work close to both hardware and end users, developing Android-based solutions that improve productivity, usability and safety. The environments are demanding, and performance, clarity and reliability matter. In some applications, smart software contributes to productivity gains of up to 30 percent.

• Own the development of Android-based HMI applications from idea to deployment

• Design and implement solutions using Kotlin and Java in close collaboration with UX, system and hardware engineers

• Work with communication layers such as REST, WebSockets and gRPC, as well as vehicle interfaces like CAN

• Collaborate directly with customers to understand real operational needs and translate them into technical solutions

• Contribute to architecture, code quality, performance and long-term maintainability

You enjoy building software that connects the digital and physical world, whether it is used onboard a boat, in construction equipment or in other advanced systems. You are curious about how the full system works, take responsibility for what you build and care about creating reliable, well-designed software.

We are looking for someone at the beginning of their career, with 0–5 years of relevant experience. You may already have experience in Android development, or you may be a recent graduate with a strong programming background and a clear interest in growing within the Android field.

We believe you have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a relevant engineering field, and experience or a strong foundation in areas such as:

• Android application development

• Kotlin and Java

• SQL and databases

• Linux-based development environments

• Network communication over HTTP, REST, WebSockets or gRPC

• CAN or other communication interfaces

You are curious, eager to learn and enjoy sharing knowledge and solving problems together with your team.

Advanced engineering You work with complex systems in marine and industrial applications where software quality directly affects usability and performance.

Everything under one roof What makes us unique is how much of the product development we own ourselves. Under the same roof, we develop the software and design the hardware and electronics. Apart from the actual production, we cover the full journey from idea to finished product. This creates a truly project-driven engineering environment where you work close to the entire product and the people behind it.

Clear ownership You influence technical decisions and see your work move from concept into real products.

Better together, closer to the product We believe the best collaboration happens when we are close to each other – and to the hardware we are developing for. That is why most of our work is done from the office, with the possibility to work remotely one day per week. Being onsite also means you do not miss out on our weekly fika, breakfasts, seminars and shared training sessions during working hours.

CPAC Systems develops advanced control systems for marine and industrial applications. Since 1999, we’ve been turning complex operations into intuitive experiences. With 250 employees, a portfolio of +80 patents and more than 500,000 delivered products per year, we drive innovation in everything from electrification to intelligent automation. As part of Volvo Group, our role is to lead advanced technology development and explore the next generation of smart control systems.

If you want to build Android applications that are used every day in demanding environments, we would like to hear from you. Feel free contacting Talent Partner Victoria Sahlberg at Victoria.sahlberg@cpacsystems.se if you have any questions!
