Purpose of the Position

The Senior Talent Consultant at matteria leads executive searches end to end, partnering with leaders who are changing the world, wherever they happen to be building. This person brings both the technical execution of headhunting and a strategic, consultative lens, listening closely to translate a client's ambitions into winning candidate profiles, and becomes the client's senior point of contact, able to navigate complex conversations fluently in English.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Client Advisory

• Lead executive discovery sessions to deeply understand organizational challenges and leadership needs.

• Translate loosely defined client expectations into structured search strategies and compelling leadership profiles.

• Serve as the senior strategic point of contact throughout every engagement.

• Facilitate executive-level conversations and decision-making in English with confidence and independence.

Executive Search Leadership

• Own the full executive search lifecycle, including intake meetings, role definition, compensation calibration, sourcing strategy, executive outreach, candidate assessment, client presentations, offer management, and successful placement.

• Design tailored search strategies for leadership positions across multiple industries and geographies.

• Conduct sophisticated market mapping and direct headhunting of passive executive talent.

Leadership Assessment & Consulting

• Conduct structured executive interviews and leadership assessments.

• Evaluate candidates based on competencies, leadership capabilities, cultural alignment, and mission fit.

• Advise clients on market dynamics, candidate trade-offs, and hiring decisions with sound judgment and objectivity.

Candidate Experience

• Deliver an exceptional candidate experience through transparent communication, timely feedback, and respectful engagement.

• Lead executive negotiations and support successful onboarding and post-placement follow-up.

Market Intelligence & Operational Excellence

• Produce executive search reports, market intelligence, compensation insights, and pipeline analytics.

• Continuously leverage technology and AI tools to strengthen research, sourcing, documentation, and decision-making.

• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, methodology improvements, and mentoring of junior consultants when appropriate.

Requirements and competences to work with us

Education

• We prioritize proven capability over credentials. No specific degree required.

• What matters: a track record delivering end-to-end executive searches, sharp judgment, and consistent results.

• Advanced studies or certifications (e.g., executive coaching, org psychology, OD, analytics) are welcome but optional if your experience speaks for itself.

Experience

• 7–12+ years in executive search, senior recruiting, or leadership hiring—agency or in-house—delivering Director/C-Suite or hard-to-fill leadership roles.

• Proven track record of direct headhunting and closing passive candidates across multiple markets/time zones.

• Comfortable running multiple searches concurrently in a freelance/independent setup with clear SLAs and outcome accountability.

Knowledge and Skills

• Professional, fluent, bilingual English, able to lead client calls, negotiations, and written deliverables independently, with no translation support required; additional languages such as Spanish or Portuguese are an asset.

• Expertise in leadership assessment, behavioral interviewing, and talent mapping.

• Outstanding project management and organizational abilities.

• Fluency with technology and AI tools as a core part of how you work, not an afterthought, using them to accelerate research, sourcing, and decision-making.

• Proficiency in digital recruitment platforms, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and professional networking tools.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

Competencies

• Ownership & speed: bias to action, proactive risk mitigation, reliable on-time delivery.

• Judgment: sharp evaluation of leadership competencies and cultural/mission fit.

• Consultative seniority: the instinct to ask the right questions, truly listen, and translate loosely defined client needs into concrete, actionable deliverables.

• Global mindset: comfort working across cultures, languages, and sectors; high adaptability.

• Integrity & empathy: candidate-first approach with uncompromising ethics and confidentiality.

• Learning agility: iterate on playbooks, test new channels, and share best practices.
