Senior Creative Copywriter

About this Role

We're looking for a Senior Creative Copywriter to bring Valerie's portfolio of consumer and eCommerce brands to life through exceptional writing, original ideas, and distinctive brand storytelling.

This is a creative role first and foremost. You'll develop brand voices, campaign concepts, messaging frameworks, social content, performance ads, website copy, and CRM campaigns that connect with audiences while driving business results.

You'll work across multiple brands and international markets, collaborating closely with Creative Directors, Designers, Brand Growth Pods, Performance, and Web & Digital Experience teams. We want someone who can move seamlessly between building a brand's long-term identity and writing sharp, commercially effective copy for everyday campaigns.

Great copy starts with human insight, originality, cultural understanding, and a genuine command of language. AI can support your process, but we want someone who can think independently, challenge generic ideas, and create work that feels distinctly human.

Success in this role means distinctive brand voices, original creative concepts, culturally relevant messaging, exceptional writing quality, faster creative delivery, fewer revisions, and copy that contributes to both brand building and commercial performance.

You could be a great fit if...

• You see copywriting as a craft and care deeply about the quality, originality, and impact of your words.

• You can turn consumer insights and brand strategy into compelling stories, campaign ideas, and messaging.

• You have a strong conceptual mind and enjoy contributing ideas beyond the brief.

• You understand how to balance brand storytelling with performance marketing and commercial objectives.

• You have an exceptional command of English, including nuance, humour, idioms, and cultural references.

• You can adapt your writing for different brands, audiences, platforms, and international markets.

• You know how to make product benefits compelling without making the copy sound forced or salesy.

• You challenge generic messaging and know when something sounds artificial, overused, or off-brand.

• You're comfortable managing multiple brands and briefs without compromising on quality.

• You enjoy collaborating with creative, design, strategy, and performance teams and can confidently explain your creative choices.

• You use AI thoughtfully for research and exploration but can develop strong creative work independently.

• You're proactive, receptive to feedback, and take ownership of your work from the first idea to final delivery.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in creative copywriting, ideally within advertising, branding, creative agencies, or consumer-focused businesses.

• An exceptional portfolio demonstrating original thinking, strong writing craft, and versatility across different brands and formats.

• Outstanding written English, with a sophisticated understanding of tone, storytelling, grammar, and language.

• Strong cultural understanding of English-speaking markets, particularly the US, UK, and Australia.

• Experience developing brand narratives, tone-of-voice guidelines, messaging frameworks, and brand books.

• Proven ability to conceptualise and write campaign ideas, headlines, taglines, and product launch messaging.

• Hands-on experience writing for organic social, paid advertising, creator content, websites, landing pages, eCommerce, and CRM.

• Understanding of how copy contributes to brand building, customer acquisition, engagement, and conversion.

• Ability to adapt messaging for platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Google, and YouTube.

• Good understanding of SEO, CRO, creative testing, and performance-led messaging.

• Excellent editorial judgement, attention to detail, and ownership of final copy quality.

• Ability to collaborate with Creative Directors, Designers, Strategists, and Performance specialists.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple brands, deadlines, and competing priorities.

• A collaborative, proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and incorporate feedback.

• Genuine curiosity about language, culture, advertising, and consumer behaviour.

• Ability to use AI as a supporting tool without relying on AI-generated drafts as a substitute for original creative thinking.

Bonus Points

• Experience working with eCommerce, D2C, lifestyle, beauty, fashion, wellness, or other consumer brands.

• Experience building brands from the ground up or working in fast-growing, founder-led environments.

• Experience developing creative territories and integrated campaigns across multiple channels.

• Experience writing for international audiences and adapting messaging across markets.

• Experience collaborating with performance teams on creative experiments, A/B testing, and messaging optimisation.

• Familiarity with creator partnerships, influencer campaigns, and short-form video scripts.

• Experience building copywriting guidelines, editorial standards, and reusable messaging frameworks.

• Experience using AI tools and automation to improve research, ideation, and creative workflows while maintaining originality.

You probably shouldn't apply if...

• Your experience is primarily limited to content execution, blogs, or SEO articles without strong creative copywriting.

• You rely on templates, familiar advertising clichés, or AI-generated drafts rather than developing original ideas.

• You struggle to demonstrate your writing ability through a strong portfolio.

• You have limited experience developing brand voices, campaign concepts, or messaging frameworks.

• Your writing is grammatically correct but lacks personality, nuance, cultural understanding, or originality.

• You focus only on creative expression without considering the audience, business objective, or commercial outcome.

• You struggle to adapt your writing for different brands, platforms, or international audiences.

• You prefer working on one brand or brief at a time and find multiple concurrent projects challenging.

• You're uncomfortable explaining your creative decisions, collaborating with other teams, or incorporating feedback.

• You view copywriting as simply putting words together rather than solving communication and brand challenges.
