Product Manager

Few people get to build a bank from scratch. Even fewer get to build one at a moment when banking itself is being reinvented.

The Dollar is the best product in the history of the world - there is infinite global demand. But International Fintechs and non-US banks are left with two unsatisfying options to access it: Either they build on legacy clearing banks that are slow and unreliable, or they interface with middleware providers that don’t move and hold the dollars directly, but themselves rely on underlying legacy banks. Augustus collapses this stack by combining two things: A real, national bank charter (in organization), and Marble, our proprietary core banking system, built around intelligence, made of code.

We are a group of operators, unicorn early employees, ex-founders and people who walked away from degrees because they believe this is an industry and career defining opportunity. We are backed with more than $200M from Peter Thiel's Valar Ventures, Tiger Global, Hummingbird, QED, Creandum, and the founders of Nubank, Ramp, Deel, Circle, Fluidstack, Fuse, and n8n.

We are regulated in Europe and live with Euro and Stablecoin clearing today. Now, we are building the US team from the ground up, while continuing to grow rapidly in Europe.

You own Banking Experience: the accounts at the center of customer's relationship with the bank, and the API and dashboards they use to manage them.

In this role you’re responsible for redefining what beautiful software in banking looks like. You'll define account structures that give customers powerful building blocks for their products, and craft intuitive interfaces grounded in a deep understanding of their use cases and workflows.

You report to Will, Head of Product, and work closely with Simon, our CTO. You're expected to operate with full autonomy on your team's roadmap, collaborating with design and engineering.

• Months 1-2: Take over day-to-day ownership of the Banking Experience team - the roadmap, the ways of working, the hard decisions. Establish yourself with customers and how they use our accounts. You define and ship your first project.

• Months 3-4: Execution mode. You're unblocking engineering daily, making hard prioritization calls, and shipping your roadmap to customers. You're proactively raising the bar across accounts, API, and dashboard by feeding what you learn from customers into the product.

• Months 5-6: You're working with live customers on the products you've built. Deposits and number of account holders are scaling. You've moved from execution to platform mode - evolving the roadmap based on what our customers are building on top of Augustus.

We believe that throwing smart people with high agency at big problems produces the best outcomes. We’re building a modern correspondent bank, and we win by having a better team. The people who succeed here share the following traits:

• American Dream: You’d rather shoot for gold than settle for mediocrity. You pick the harder goal and stay optimistic when the odds are against you. If it feels easy, we aimed too low.

• Live Player: You don’t need permission. You rebuild what’s broken without being asked, challenge how things are done, and move before the perfect moment.

• Ever to Excel: You can’t accept good enough and you take your work personally. When it matters, you do what it takes and keep raising the bar for yourself and your team.

• Genuine: You play for the company, not your title or turf. Low ego, low drama, no politics. You say it straight, also upwards and always assume good intent.

This role is for you if:

• You want to spend time with customers to intimately understand and then innovate on their workflows.

• You’re a structured and relentless problem solver.

• You combine first-principles thinking with deep domain knowledge to make complex processes simple.

• You have taste and care deeply about the quality of what you build.

• You leverage AI to push the boundaries of what a PM can do.

• You’re excited about building a programmable bank and helping shape what that means.

• Experience end-to-end owning and building banking, fintech, or developer platform products.

• Technical enough to spar on architectural decisions with engineers - you're comfortable in API design discussions, not just UI reviews.

• You have experience with control planes, dashboards, or console products at infrastructure, finance, or developer tools companies.

• You have strong opinions on information architecture and how to organize complex products so they feel simple

• Comfortable in customer-facing roles - you've pitched, demoed, and closed early adopters yourself.

• Based in New York or Berlin, or willing to relocate.

Compensation packages at Augustus include base salary, equity, and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise and geographic location. The annual US base salary range for this role is $180,000-$230,000 + equity.

• Career Growth: You will be given more responsibility and pushed to grow faster than ever before.

• Network: Your peers are brilliant, highly motivated people. These people will be foundational in your future opportunities.

• Real Participation: Employees are shareholders. You will think and act like an owner.

• Perks & Benefits: Relocation support, visa support, the latest Apple gear (MacBook + AirPods), lunch benefit, gym benefit, a beautiful office in the heart of the city, 4x on-/offsites per year, and an annual development budget.

Additional to the global benefits above, we offer localized benefits such as comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan for our US team.
