- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks while enabling new products, services, and business initiatives.
- Help advance the legal department's use of AI and technology to improve legal drafting, contract review, regulatory analysis, and workflow efficiency.
- Contribute to the development of responsible AI policies and internal guidelines governing the use of emerging technologies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and provide counsel on general corporate and business matters as needed.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and proactively advise the business on their potential impact.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the California State Bar.
- At least 5 years of legal experience, including in-house experience and law firm experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CPRA, COPPA, and PIPEDA.
- Experience advising on complex regulatory frameworks, including matters involving the FCC, FTC, and HIPAA.
- Demonstrated experience developing or supporting privacy, regulatory compliance, and governance programs.
- Experience evaluating legal issues involving artificial intelligence, data governance, cybersecurity, or other emerging technologies is highly desirable.
- Experience advising businesses in regulated industries is strongly preferred.
- Commercial contracting experience, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating sophisticated agreements.
- Ability to interpret complex and evolving legal requirements and translate them into clear, practical guidance for business stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities, business judgment, and the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
The ideal candidate is a business-minded, collaborative attorney who combines strong technical legal skills with sound judgment and a practical approach to problem-solving. This person will be intellectually curious, comfortable navigating evolving regulatory frameworks, and interested in the intersection of law, technology, and innovation.
