We are seeking a motivated and energetic Veterinary Clinician to join the UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital at the UQ Gatton Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Working within a collaborative, inquisitive and purpose-driven clinical environment, this role supports the delivery of high-quality, relationship-centred veterinary care while contributing to the education and mentoring of the next generation of veterinarians and veterinary technologists. As part of a visionary and supportive team, you will be challenged, inspired and rewarded while helping create meaningful change for animals, clients, students and the veterinary profession.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

• Provide high-quality, relationship-centred clinical care to animal patients and their owners, independently managing both routine and complex veterinary cases.
• Participate in the management of primary care, urgent and emergency cases within the Small Animal Hospital.
• Actively contribute to clinical teaching, instruction and supervision of undergraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students, as well as mentoring interns and junior clinicians.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives, clinical leadership, and effective day-to-day hospital operations in alignment with University and professional standards.

A career at UQ VETS means making a difference to not only the lives of the people and animals in your care, but also the next generation of vets and vet technicians. At UQ VETS, we offer the opportunity to build a dynamic career through structured development programs and access to industry leaders.

Instead of solely concentrating on meeting caseload benchmarks or revenue targets, your priorities lie in creating an impact, establishing a lasting impression on the field, and conducting work that brings about positive changes in the lives of animals.

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is an organisational unit within the School that includes all of the School’s outstanding clinical facilities. UQ staff also supervise clinical placements at the RSPCA’s Brisbane Animal Care Campus, Wacol.

In particular, the UQ VETS Small Animal Hospital values every animal and offers unrivalled medical, surgical and diagnostic services for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals and fish at our world-class veterinary hospital in Gatton.

As part of the UQ community, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world, working together to create a better world. Join a community where excellence is at the core of our culture, contributions are valued and a range of benefits and rewards are available, such as:

• Free parking and intercampus bus.
• On campus childcare, medical clinic, and post office.
• Up to 26 weeks paid parental leave/paid primary care leave.

• Career development opportunities: access to exclusive internal-only vacancies and our Study for Staff program.
• 25% discount on eligible UQ Vets services.
• Access to our $4.1 million UQ Sports facility.

You will bring professional expertise, enthusiasm for teaching, and a collaborative mindset to this role.

• A Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent qualification, registrable in Queensland.
• More than four years’ experience in general practice or emergency and critical care.
• Membership of ANZCVS or an equivalent qualification is desirable, with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrated commitment to relationship-centred veterinary care and teamwork across clinical and teaching environments.
• Proven ability to manage complex clinical cases and provide mentoring and clinical leadership to junior staff.
• Strong commitment to teaching and training veterinary science and veterinary technology students.
