Job Description
About the Role
**Role Location: While we are open to fully remote candidates within the continental United States, we have a strong preference for candidates based in Mountain and Pacific timezones.
Our Manager, Legal Operations & Compliance will be the backbone behind how Nearmap's legal function runs, day in and day out. You'll lead the legal operations team and own our legal tech stack, including Jira, Conga/CPQ/CLM, Checkbox, Agiloft, DocuSign and Salesforce, making sure intake, contracting and compliance work moves fast and scales as we grow. You'll be the primary approver on quotes requiring legal review, and the first port of call when it comes to contract-generation tooling. Beyond that, you'll take ownership of entity management, contracting management, and our insurance program, and help drive the Company's broader compliance agenda. Working closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, and Finance across every region we operate in, you'll be continually levelling up our Legals Ops and Compliance functions to ensure Legal keeps pace with our fast-moving business.
- Lead and develop the legal operations team by strategically allocating work, cross-training across teams/verticals, and managing leave/coverage plans to avoid single points of failure.
- Oversee the RFQ/RFP process, working closely with the Contracts and Proposal Manager and cross-functionally to build a scalable process ensuring timely and efficient submission of proposals and completed questionnaires
- Own and triage the Legal Jira intake queue, ensuring requests are correctly routed, assigned, and progressed per the intake workflow. Explore ways to optimize.
- Serve as primary approver on Salesforce quotes requiring legal review, applying the quote approval process and escalating to delegates as needed.
- Support Sales and account teams on legal matters, including training on contract risk, handling customer-facing legal enquiries, and managing recurring requests (NDAs, sole source letters, imagery permissions, COIs).
- Review and negotiate NDAs and similar agreements, balancing risk identification with Nearmap's business needs, and collaborate on global legal projects led by regional Counsel.
- Own the legal technology strategy and stack, including Conga/CPQ, Checkbox, Agiloft, DocuSign, and the Salesforce Legal Queue, driving adoption, configuration, and vendor management.
- Maintain the contract management system, global contracts register, template/clause library, and document retention practices.
- Define and maintain legal operations KPIs and dashboards (ticket volume, turnaround time, contract cycle time, outside counsel spend), using data to guide resourcing and process improvements.
- Manage Nearmap's quoting and contracting process, including Schedule 1 terms and Order Level Materials.
- Support entity governance across all jurisdictions, including registrations, annual renewals, registered agents, filings, and license renewals.
- Own the annual insurance renewal process with Nearmap's broker and manage certificate of insurance requests from customers and vendors.
- Support the Company's data privacy program and maintain the Legal Ops-owned policy library, ensuring version control, brand compliance, and regular review.
- Own compliance operations, regulatory statement delivery, and stand up an outside counsel management program covering engagement guidelines, spend, and business reviews.

What You'll Bring

- Substantive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and correspondence, with broad commercial and corporate law knowledge, particularly IP, licensing, SaaS, revenue recognition, and privacy in a technology context.
- Proven ability to manage complex problems and business needs in a fast-paced environment, balancing risk against quality with minimal supervision.
- People management experience, including performance management, workload allocation, and building team capability and capacity.
- Experience administering contract lifecycle management and legal workflow platforms (e.g., Conga/CPQ, Checkbox, Agiloft, DocuSign), with a strong systems and process orientation.
- Data-driven approach, using analytics and reporting to unlock team capacity and inform decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills. High attention to detail and proficiency in MS Office.
- Nice-to-haves
- Experience with entity management, corporate governance, and administering compliance programs preferred.
- Exposure to RFP management and government contracting (federal and local), including GSA Schedule contracts, preferred.
- Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce preferred.
About You
- You're a clear communicator. You connect and communicate effectively with people at every level, translating complex legal and commercial concepts into language anyone can act on.
- You're commercially minded. You don't just flag risk, you help find the path through it, giving advice that's grounded in what actually moves the business forward.
- You're a natural collaborator. You build strong partnerships across functions, and people seek you out because you make cross-team work feel easy.
- You're adaptable. A fast-moving product roadmap doesn't faze you. You flex your approach as the business evolves and find the right fit for what's needed next.
- You're a people developer. You know how to build team capability and coverage, growing the people around you while keeping the operation resilient no matter what comes your way.
- You're tech-curious. APIs, integrations, and the tools behind aerial imagery genuinely interest you, and you're always looking to understand how the technology connects to the business.
