Manager, Commerce Media

Role Summary & Impact

Commerce media is rapidly changing how brands reach consumers from the digital shelf to the open web. We’re looking for a Manager, Commerce Media who understands how to connect retail media, programmatic, commerce data, and full-funnel activation to drive measurable business results.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can move seamlessly between strategy and activation, developing commerce media plans, getting into platforms, analyzing performance, and turning data into actionable recommendations for clients.

You’ll work across leading retail media ecosystems including Walmart Connect, Instacart, Roundel, Kroger, and other commerce platforms, with a strong focus on programmatic and DSP activation, including offsite media, retail audiences, display, video, and other addressable tactics.

Commerce Media Strategy & Activation

• Develop and execute full-funnel commerce media strategies across onsite and offsite retail media.
• Lead activation across retail DSPs and programmatic platforms, including display, video, CTV/OLV, and audience-based media.
• Translate client business objectives into actionable media strategies across retail search, onsite placements, programmatic/DSP, and offsite commerce media.
• Manage campaign setup, audience strategy, targeting, bidding, pacing, optimization, and measurement.
• Leverage retailer first-party data and commerce audiences to build effective prospecting, consideration, and conversion strategies.
• Understand how retailer audiences can be activated both within retailer ecosystems and through offsite programmatic environments.
• Develop audience and targeting strategies using shopper behavior, purchase data, contextual signals, lookalikes, and other available commerce signals.
• Partner with DSPs, retail media networks, and technology partners to identify new capabilities, beta opportunities, and growth opportunities.
• Stay ahead of evolving retail media, programmatic, identity, measurement, and privacy trends.

Programmatic & Performance

• Lead programmatic activation across relevant DSP environments, including audience targeting, media buying, optimization, frequency, pacing, and inventory strategy.
• Understand the differences between retailer-owned inventory, retailer offsite extensions, and broader programmatic inventory.
• Evaluate performance across metrics such as ROAS, CPA, CTR, conversion, reach, frequency, viewability, and incremental sales, depending on campaign objectives.
• Identify optimization opportunities across audiences, inventory, placements, bids, creative, and budget allocation.
• Partner with analytics and measurement teams to evaluate incrementality, attribution, and the impact of media on commerce outcomes.

Analytics & Client Strategy

• Analyze performance across multiple commerce and programmatic platforms and turn data into clear business recommendations.
• Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, and campaign wrap-up reporting.
• Build measurement frameworks and KPIs aligned to client objectives.
• Lead client conversations around performance, optimization, testing, and future investment opportunities.
• Present both tactical campaign insights and broader commerce media strategy to senior stakeholders.
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities and proactively recommend next steps.

Leadership & Development

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of commerce media professionals.
• Coach team members on retail media, programmatic activation, platform best practices, analytics, and client communication.
• Establish strong quality-control processes and best practices across campaign activation and reporting.
• Foster a collaborative, curious, and high-performing team environment.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with commerce strategy, analytics, search, investment, brand, creative, and account teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Ensure commerce media strategies are connected to the broader media and customer journey.
• Create scalable processes that improve activation quality, efficiency, and consistency across clients.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in programmatic, retail media, commerce media, or digital performance marketing, with strong hands-on activation experience.
• Strong understanding of programmatic/DSP buying, including audience targeting, bidding, optimization, pacing, inventory, display, video, and offsite activation.
• Experience working with retail media networks and/or retailer DSPs, such as Walmart Connect, Instacart, Roundel, Kroger, Amazon, Criteo, CitrusAd, or similar platforms.
• Experience activating retailer first-party audiences and commerce data within programmatic environments.
• Understanding of how onsite retail media, offsite retail media, programmatic, and search work together across the consumer journey.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate campaign performance into actionable business recommendations.
• Experience with campaign measurement, attribution, and ideally incrementality or lift measurement.
• Experience managing and developing direct reports.
• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• A curious, entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward testing, learning, and finding new ways to drive client growth.
