Job Description:

Job Title: Mail Processor

Department: Truck

​FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function:   Delivers mail to associates in the entire Chariton Distribution Center complex. Sorts truck mail and places in appropriate boxes.  Responsible for out going US mail and Federal Express or UPS packages.  Distributes packages received from delivery companies.  Orders and distributes office supplies.  Maintain valid drivers’ license.

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivers mail (truck, US mail, and packages) and faxes to entire complex.
• Sorts incoming truck and US mail and meters US mail.
• Files invoices, bulletins, flyers, etc. Sorts, delivers, and prepares UPS shipments.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adds money to postage meter
• Performs other job related duties and special projects from print shop, Midwest heritage Bank/Insurance as required.
• Performs miscellaneous duties such as answering telephone and updating mail distribution lists.
• Determines best way to send special handling items and fills out paperwork.
• Folds store mail envelopes nightly and sorts for grocery or produce truck delivery.
• Labels envelopes for mailing.
• Orders and delivers office supplies.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

• Must have the ability to solve practical problems; variety of variables with limited standardization; interpret instructions.
• Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
• Must possess the ability to file, post, and mail materials; copy data from one record to another; interview to obtain basic information; guide people and provide basic direction.
• Must be physically able to perform heavy work: exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and 50 lbs. of force frequently to move objects.
• Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and field of vision.
• Must be able to perform the following physical activities:  Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Education and Experience:

High School or equivalent experience.  Must maintain valid driver’s license.  Zero to one year of similar or related work experience.

None

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in a combination warehouse and office environment.  There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a day.  There is possible exposure to dirt, temperature extremes, dampness, and equipment movement hazards.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Postage meter, warehouse tractor and wagon, mail delivery van, 10-key calculator, copier, fax, and telephone, UPS computer, tracking shipments.

Confidentiality:

Has access to confidential information contained in faxes and the mail.  Access to several personal banking items ran through mailroom.

Financial Responsibility:

Bank deposits to Midwest Heritage, store payroll, tracking checks

Contacts:

Has frequent contact with post office, store and office personnel and suppliers/vendors.
