About the role
At Sword, we’re building AI to heal billions and unlock humanity’s full potential. In doing so, we’re pioneering AI Care, a fundamentally new approach to healthcare built for medical reasoning, safety, and real-time treatment, not generic technology applied after the fact. As both a clinical-centric frontier AI lab and an applied AI platform, Sword is reimagining how care is delivered at scale, removing traditional barriers like appointments, waiting rooms, and stigma so more people can access the care they need—and ultimately get back to lives lived in full.
Since 2020, Sword has expanded across physical therapy, women’s health, cardiometabolic, and mental health, and is now moving beyond the session to a fully AI-native, 24/7 care program that brings physical activity, therapeutic exercise, psychotherapy, nutrition, and behavior change into one connected experience. More than 700,000 members across three continents have completed over 10 million AI sessions, helping 1,000+ enterprise clients avoid more than $1 billion in unnecessary healthcare costs. Backed by 42 clinical studies, 44+ patents, and more than $500 million raised from leading investors including Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, and Founders Fund, Sword is defining a new standard for healthcare.
AI Proficiency at Sword
AI fluency is a core expectation at Sword. Every candidate is assessed against our three-level framework — be ready to share real examples of how AI is already part of how you work.
Explorer (Level 1) — Uses AI daily to boost personal productivity
Builder (Level 2) — Creates workflows and tools that elevate the whole team
Integrator (Level 3) — Embeds AI into products and processes at scale
Every hire must demonstrate at least Level 1. The expected level will vary depending on the seniority of the role.
Role
Pulse is Sword Health's cardiometabolic program — an AI-first, clinician-backed experience that members stay with for months, not days. We're looking for a Head of Product to own it end to end: the roadmap, the AI experience, and the engagement engine that keeps members coming back.
This is a builder's seat, not a caretaker's. You'll take features from zero to one and then scale them to hundreds of thousands of members, designing agentic and conversational experiences on top of frontier models — and the eval frameworks that prove they're safe, accurate, and actually working. You'll own the metrics that matter (activation, engagement, retention, clinical outcomes) and partner closely with clinical, ML, design, and commercial teams to move them.
What you’ll be doing
Product Strategy & Execution
- Own the product roadmap from pre-launch through scale, balancing zero-to-one innovation with one-to-100 optimization.
- Define and prioritize features that drive member engagement, retention, and clinical outcomes across 4-12 month care journeys.
- Establish clear product metrics, success criteria, and feedback loops to rapidly iterate and improve the member experience.
- Partner with clinical, regulatory, and compliance teams to ensure product decisions meet healthcare standards while maintaining innovation velocity.
AI Product Leadership
- Design AI-first product experiences that leverage agentic capabilities, conversational interfaces, and personalized recommendations to deliver exceptional consumer value.
- Develop and implement evaluation frameworks (evals) to measure AI model performance, accuracy, safety, and member satisfaction.
- Maintain deep understanding of available AI models (LLMs, fine-tuning approaches) and make strategic decisions about which models to use for which use cases.
- Collaborate with clinical, ML engineering and applied AI teams to ensure safety and quality and optimize model performance, latency, cost, and reliability in production.
- Leverage AI tools throughout the product development lifecycle to accelerate research, prototyping, testing, and go-to-market preparation.
- Stay current on AI capabilities and emerging techniques, continuously evaluating how new developments can enhance the member experience.
Growth
- Build and execute strategies to drive member activation, and long-term retention in both B2C and B2B2C contexts.
- Design onboarding experiences, engagement loops, and re-engagement strategies optimized for sustained behavior change.
- Analyze member behavior, drop-off points, and engagement patterns to identify opportunities for product improvement.
- Partner with growth, marketing, and commercial teams to align product experience with go-to-market strategy.
- Develop hypotheses and run experiments to continuously improve conversion, engagement, and retention metrics.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication
- Serve as the product voice in executive discussions, client presentations, and sales cycles.
- Translate complex AI product concepts into compelling narratives for non-technical stakeholders, including clinical teams, executives, and clients.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, data science, clinical operations, and commercial teams to align on priorities and drive execution.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure the product has the support and resources needed to succeed.
What you need to have
- 6-8 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on AI products or consumer-facing digital health products.
- Proven track record launching 0-to-1 products and scaling them to significant user bases (one-to-100).
- Deep experience with AI-first product development, including working with LLMs, designing agentic experiences, and building evaluation frameworks.
- Strong product sense for consumer experiences, particularly in products requiring sustained engagement over 4-12 month time horizons.
- Experience in B2C or consumer tech companies, with demonstrated expertise in growth, activation, and retention strategies.
- Nuanced understanding of different AI models, their capabilities and limitations, and how to maximize value from them in production.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to make decisions quickly with incomplete information.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams and present to executive audiences.
What we would love to see
- Experience at high-growth startups where you've navigated rapid scaling and shifting priorities.
- Track record of leveraging AI tools (coding assistants, generative AI for research, automated testing) to accelerate product development timelines.
- Technical background or strong ability to collaborate deeply with engineering teams on AI implementation details.
- Experience designing products for both direct consumer and enterprise/B2B2C distribution models.
