Head of Creative

About this Role

We're looking for a Head of Creative to lead Valerie's integrated creative function across Content, Copy, and Design, delivering distinctive, culturally relevant, and commercially effective work for our portfolio of consumer and eCommerce brands.

You'll work closely with the Global Creative Director, Brand Growth Pods, and Performance teams to turn brand strategies and growth priorities into compelling campaigns, creative concepts, content, and digital experiences. You'll be responsible for maintaining high creative standards while ensuring ideas translate into quality execution across channels, brands, and international markets.

This role combines creative direction with team leadership and operational ownership. You'll build and develop a high-performing creative team, establish scalable workflows, improve creative quality, and ensure the function can deliver exceptional work as Valerie grows.

You'll also partner with our Product team to identify opportunities where AI, automation, and our proprietary platform can improve creative development and production without compromising originality or human judgement.

Success in this role means stronger creative quality, distinctive brand identities, effective campaigns, measurable contributions to brand growth, a high-performing creative team, and systems that allow Valerie to scale creative output without compromising craft.

You could be a great fit if...

• You have a strong creative point of view and can bring together exceptional writing, content, and visual design.

• You can translate brand strategy and consumer insights into distinctive creative concepts and commercially effective campaigns.

• You care about creative craft, originality, cultural relevance, and consistency across every brand touchpoint.

• You understand how brand building and performance marketing work together to drive acquisition, conversion, and retention.

• You can balance creative ambition with commercial priorities, deadlines, and the realities of a growing business.

• You enjoy developing creative talent, giving clear feedback, and building teams that challenge each other to do better work.

• You can establish creative standards, workflows, and quality controls without making the process unnecessarily complicated.

• You're comfortable working across multiple brands, competing priorities, and international audiences.

• You use consumer insights, performance data, and creative experiments to improve the quality and effectiveness of your work.

• You can work closely with Growth, Performance, Partnerships, and Digital Experience teams to deliver integrated creative solutions.

• You take ownership of creative delivery, resource allocation, team development, and the overall quality of output.

• You're curious about AI and automation and know how to use them to improve creative efficiency without losing originality or human judgement.

• You lead with accountability, collaboration, and a low-ego approach while maintaining high standards.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience in creative direction or integrated creative leadership across advertising, branding, digital, or consumer-focused businesses.

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams across Content, Copy, and Design.

• An exceptional portfolio showcasing brand identities, campaign concepts, social, digital, and eCommerce creative.

• Strong experience translating brand positioning, creative strategy, and go-to-market plans into effective creative execution.

• A strong understanding of D2C and eCommerce brands, consumer behaviour, and performance-led creative.

• Experience developing creative for multiple channels, including paid media, social, CRM, websites, and digital campaigns.

• Proven ability to lead creative reviews, provide constructive feedback, and establish standards for quality, originality, and brand consistency.

• Experience building creative workflows, briefing processes, review systems, playbooks, and reusable guidelines.

• Strong understanding of creative experimentation, messaging tests, performance insights, and their application to creative development.

• Ability to connect creative priorities with commercial objectives, including acquisition, conversion, retention, and brand growth.

• Experience managing multiple brands, competing briefs, creative capacity, and resource allocation.

• Proven ability to mentor creative professionals, identify capability gaps, and develop future creative leaders.

• Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and creative storytelling skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with Creative Directors, Brand Growth, Performance, Partnerships, and Web & Digital Experience teams.

• Strong cultural awareness, conceptual thinking, and an understanding of evolving consumer trends.

• A collaborative, proactive, and accountable leadership style, with the ability to make decisions independently.

Bonus Points

• Experience working with international consumer brands, particularly across the US, UK, and Australia.

• Experience in high-growth, founder-led, or multi-brand environments.

• Experience building creative teams or functions from the ground up.

• Experience presenting creative concepts and recommendations to founders, senior leadership, and clients.

• Familiarity with creative production, freelance talent management, and external agency partnerships.

• Experience connecting creative experimentation with measurable improvements in paid media performance.

• Experience developing AI-assisted creative workflows, automation, and scalable content production systems.

• Experience contributing to proprietary AI platforms, creative knowledge bases, or reusable creative frameworks.

• Experience balancing brand-building campaigns with performance-driven creative across different stages of brand growth.

You probably shouldn't apply if...

• Your experience is limited to managing creative projects without owning creative direction or quality.

• You've primarily led one discipline, such as Design or Copy, without experience overseeing an integrated creative function.

• You focus on aesthetics or creative awards without considering consumer needs and commercial outcomes.

• You struggle to translate brand strategy into clear, actionable creative direction.

• You rely on individual creative talent without building systems, standards, and workflows that help teams scale.

• You find it difficult to give constructive feedback, manage competing priorities, or hold teams accountable.

• You're uncomfortable using performance data and experimentation to improve creative effectiveness.

• You prefer working on one brand or project at a time rather than managing a diverse portfolio.

• You struggle to collaborate with Growth, Performance, and other business teams.

• You rely on AI-generated work without applying independent creative judgement or maintaining high standards of originality.

• You prefer a purely strategic role without taking ownership of execution, team development, and delivery quality.
