About the Role
Reporting to the CHRO, our Regional Lead will balance global consistency with local execution. You’ll set the agenda for regional policy and best practices, and contribute to our company-wide strategy as a member of our People & Culture SLT. Day to day, you’ll be the go-to for our Australian and Polish employees and managers, providing coaching, guidance and serving as the point person for all employee relations matters. You’ll be a standout project manager, putting your skills to use leading programs that have a global impact including our ESG Strategy. Our Regional facilities teams will also report into you, with dedicated Workplace Ops Managers in both locations, helping you to shape our employee experience. You’ll partner closely with our Global Business Partner, People Ops and Talent Acquisition teams, and have a meaningful impact on how our culture and company takes shape as it grows.
- Translate global HR strategy into region-specific plans reflecting local market, cultural, and legal context.
- Support leaders through advice, coaching, and solutions-focused problem-solving, including coaching managers on relevant employment legislation in Australia and Poland.
- Manage performance processes end-to-end (PIPs, probation reviews, exit conversations, etc.) and drive high performance through coaching, feedback, and clear accountability.
- Handle complaints, legal, and risk matters including redundancies, providing timely and accurate advice across diverse People management activities.
- Stay current on legislative requirements, policies, and agreements, ensuring full compliance with local laws and company/Code of Conduct guidelines.
- Diagnose operational gaps and risks, developing and maintaining our local policies and implementing best practices that align with business goals.
- Own global programs including ESG strategy as member of P&C SLT.
- Partner with People Ops on payroll, onboarding and offboarding. Analyse People metrics and trends (e.g. quarterly onboarding/offboarding data) to inform People strategy and drive continuous improvements.
- Develop our strategy for engagement and culture-building for the regions you support in close partnership with our Workplace ops managers, championing Nearmap's culture and values.
Qualifications
About You
- You're a trusted advisor and relationship builder. People bring you their toughest problems because you listen first, then help chart the right course of action. You keep everyone in the loop along the way, building the kind of trust that makes leaders turn to you again and again.
- You're a change navigator. Ambiguity doesn't rattle you, it energises you. You can walk into a messy, evolving situation and find the thread that turns chaos into a clear path forward.
- You're a balance-keeper. You know when to hold the line on policy and when to flex for the human on the other side of it. You bring empathy and rigour to every call, never sacrificing one for the other.
- You're an operator with vision. You're just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves on the details as you are shaping the bigger strategy. You connect the dots between what's happening today and where the business needs to go.
- You're a proactive self-starter. You don't wait to be asked, you spot what needs doing and bring the energy to get it moving. Whether it's a quick win or a long slog, you show up ready and pull others along with you.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 10+ years as a P&C Business Partner/HR Manager/Senior HR advisor, with a focus on employee relations, ideally in a fast-paced growth industry.
- Solid understanding of Australian employment legislation, with experience managing complex ER issues from identification through resolution.
- Proven experience diagnosing organisational needs and rolling out programs that improve capability, performance, and culture.
- Strong relationship-building and coaching skills across diverse stakeholders, balanced with confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Excellent written, verbal, visual communication and organisational skills. You're able to juggle multiple tasks, maintain accurate documentation, and consistently meet deadlines with high attention to detail.
- Confident with a wide range of IT systems, including advanced Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to quickly learn new tools.
