Job Description
Get to Know the Role
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager, Merchant Sales to acquire and grow high-potential restaurant partnerships across Singapore.
This is a senior individual contributor role for a sales professional with strong commercial judgement, deep B2B sales expertise, and a proven ability to independently manage complex opportunities. You will help restaurants adopt Grab's suite of business solutions designed to increase revenue, improve customer engagement, and streamline daily operations. As Grab continues to expand its merchant ecosystem, you will diagnose merchants' business needs, shape tailored commercial proposals, and help them unlock growth across both online and offline channels.
These solutions include:
- Deliveries and self pick-up
- Table reservations
- QR ordering and table management solutions
- Loyalty and customer engagement tools
- Digital payment solutions
- Advertising and promotional solutions
- Customer insights and CRM tools
You will work directly with restaurant owners, senior stakeholders, and key decision-makers. You will lead the full sales cycle—from prospecting and discovery through solution design, commercial negotiation, closing, and a successful onboarding handover.
You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, apply sound commercial judgement, and contribute sales expertise and market insight to the wider team. This is an individual contributor position and does not include formal people-management responsibilities.
This role reports to the Manager, Merchant Sales and is based onsite at Grab Singapore.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Identify, qualify, and acquire high-potential restaurant partners through cold calling, networking, referrals, field prospecting, and face-to-face meetings
- Own the end-to-end sales cycle, including discovery, solution design, proposal development, negotiation, contracting, and onboarding handover
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline of sales opportunities with disciplined CRM management, clear prioritisation, and accurate forecasting
- Diagnose merchants' business challenges, commercial priorities, and operational needs, and recommend a tailored mix of Grab solutions to support sustainable growth
- Develop compelling business cases and commercial proposals using merchant performance, market insights, and unit economics
- Lead complex sales presentations, negotiations, and contract discussions with business owners and senior decision-makers
- Balance merchant needs with Grab's commercial objectives when structuring terms and closing agreements
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with merchants and identify future growth opportunities across Grab's ecosystem
- Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Account Management, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to remove barriers and ensure successful onboarding and adoption
- Share market intelligence, merchant feedback, and competitive insights to inform sales priorities and business decisions
- Contribute sales expertise, effective practices, and informal coaching to strengthen team capability, sales processes, and overall business performance
Qualifications
What You'll Need
- At least 5 years of experience in B2B sales, business development, merchant acquisition, or other client-facing commercial roles; experience in F&B, food delivery, payments, SaaS, e-commerce, or merchant technology is an advantage
- A strong track record of meeting or exceeding acquisition, revenue, and pipeline targets
- Proven expertise in consultative selling, new-business hunting, pipeline management, and accurate sales forecasting
- Experience independently managing complex or higher-value sales cycles and negotiating commercial terms with senior decision-makers
- Strong business acumen and the ability to translate merchant needs, operational realities, and data into practical commercial recommendations
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to influence business owners and senior stakeholders
- Sound judgement, resilience, and a high degree of ownership in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively across functions while independently driving opportunities to completion
- Experience working with multi-outlet restaurant groups or strategic merchants is an advantage
