DevOps / Cloud Engineer resume example
DevOps and cloud engineering resumes work best when they show reliability, speed and cost in numbers. This example covers infrastructure as code, CI/CD, Kubernetes and observability, and ties each to a measurable improvement.
Called a CV in the UK, Ireland, India, Africa, Australia and many other places, and a resume in North America. The layout below works for both.

What makes this resume work
- 1Every bullet has a number for speed, cost or reliability, which is how DevOps impact is judged.
- 2Tools are grouped by area in the skills list, making it easy for recruiters to tick off requirements.
- 3A migration with no downtime and a met availability target show trustworthiness, not just tool knowledge.
- 4Cost optimisation is highlighted because many companies now prioritise cloud spend.
- 5Certifications are listed with exact names, matching how they appear in job ads.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Writing 'responsible for CI/CD' instead of what you changed and what improved.
- Listing every cloud service you have clicked on. Focus on the ones you have run in production.
- Leaving out on-call and incident experience, which many teams ask about directly.

Questions people ask
What is the difference between DevOps, SRE and platform engineering?
They overlap. DevOps usually focuses on delivery pipelines and infrastructure, SRE on reliability and incident response with service level objectives, and platform engineering on internal tools that other developers use. Many roles combine all three.
Do I need certifications for cloud roles?
They are not always required, but cloud and Kubernetes certifications are commonly listed in job ads and help you pass screening, especially early in your career.
How do I show DevOps skills without a DevOps title?
Describe automation, deployment, monitoring and infrastructure work from your developer or sysadmin role, with numbers. A public infrastructure-as-code project also helps.
